Maggie's Centre, Oxford

Maggie’s is a charity that supports patients with cancer. The Oxford Centre sits within a densely wooded area within the Churchill Hospital site. The inside space was designed with creating informal spaces and more open areas to allow focus on support and care.

The model was constructed as a competition model, and the concept was to create a building that contradicted the outside natural woodland by using harsh materials such as metal. The idea was that the building had been ‘dropped’ into the natural environment. The massing was made from clear cast resin and clad in stainless steel. The bare wire trees were created to compliment the building.
